Certain items clicked cause System Reboot, no blue screen

i've tried many things, removing recent installed software, then
booting with safe mode and
cleaning registry with tweaknow and advanced system optimizer,
installed newest directx and XML

however, am close to reinstalling as problem persists consistent items
that are clicked reboot
others never do

i've an AMD socket AM2 system, with 1gig 533 kingston ram, 2 new HDs,
ran check on HD, didn't help

seems to be like certain control buttons in winamp and tweaknow when
clicked cause whole system to reboot.

i really don't wanna reinstall again

when i do try to repair from the boot CD SP4 it doesn't find a way to
repair, as i believe it has in the past

when i try from the recovery console it find d://winnt but not c://
for some reason

any help appreciated

now i can't reboot at all, guess that goes along with the boot cd not
finding the c://winnt

sigh looks like a forced reinstall again

sorry wrong HD, i've 2, so i'm going to use recovery console off the
boot cd
and try to replace the "hive" that don't work then guess it IS a
reinstall

unless you've a better idea?
