Repeated reboot

Have you tried booting to the Last KNown good
configuration? Or Safe Mode? By default, Win2K is set
to automatically reboot when it receives a 'system
failure'. If you can get to the point the machine will
boot up (even in last known good, or safe mode), you can
turn off the Automatically Reboot option (Right click My
Comp, go to properties, then click Advanced --> Startup
and Recovery --> then deselect automatically reboot.

If you can get it to boot last known good, then apply the
SP again. If it only boots into safe mode, then turn off
that auto reboot, then try to boot normally. When the
computer does generate the blue screen, then you can
collect the information from there and troubleshoot.

I have never (knock on wood) had a SP4 install bomb out
on me, so I haven't had to research what might have
caused it. I will probably jinx myself saying this). I
think LKG is your best option to try first. That will at
least undo the changes SP4 made. (If you made any other
changes or updates while you were installing the SP, I
would avoid doing that again. Just apply the SP first,
then do anythign else after you have a successful reboot.

The CD that I got with the computer loads OS WIN NT
(5.00.2195). I just installed service pack 4 When the
system reboots the Windows 2000 screen appears but as it
leaves this and starts to continue, the system restarts.
It does this repeatedly. What are the possible causes.
The system has run perfectly up to this update
installation. I tried to read the message when the screen
flickers an error note just before the restart but it
only lasts a millisecond. Where will I find this message
or an error log that I can read if I boot up in DOS. What
are the probalbe causes?
