centering and margins in landscape

I have a document in landscape orientation, but I cannot get the text to
print all the way across the page or to center properly. The text acts as if
it's still in portrait orientation. I set the margins and orientation using
page setup, and the margins say that they are set at .5" and .46", but it
doesn't look that way on the screen or print that way. It prints as though
the page is still in portrait, using a margin at 7.5" on the right.

Can someone help me?

If you choose File - Page Setup - Paper tab, what does it show for the width
and height? It should show 11" and 8.5" respectively. It's relative to these
that the margins are set. If they are reversed, then set them accordingly.
