Censorship & Microsoft!

MS must be learning a lot about it helping the Chinese censor
pro-democracy statements.

I don't think I've had more posts removed from this server in a one week
period as I've had pulled just today.

Whoever has the job of pulling my posts, I hope you are getting paid
overtime for i, but more than likely, you are probably some temp
MicroSerf, who doesn't get any benefits at all!

By the by, anyone notice the number of patches to the Windows XP quilt
are coming out tomorrow? Maybe MS should spend more time creating
software that isn't an effin' sieve, and less time on censorship?

So this post does generally address Windows XP!

Someone is on a deleting frenzy. I have had two removed and can't figure out
why. They were replies to posts that may have been considered mildly
offensive but I had snipped the possibly offensive bits. Wonder if this one
will stay up long?

Considering that I doubt I've seen any post of yours that remotely
merits getting pulled off the server, perhaps MS is having one of its
occasional "server problems."

LOL! Since you are a slur on the rest of all the MS-MVPs that don't
just cut & paste nearly every response, it is amazing that any of your
posts survive!

Yes, the SS is apparently very busy censoring posts to this group. We
should all be very grateful that the thought police are making it possible
for us to go blindly about our business now without having to think for
ourselves.

Consider that there may be problems server-side. Today I've seen replies
quoting recent posts which simply are not on the servers to which I'm
connecting and none of them contain anything offensive or inappropriate
whatsoever, Kurt.

Yeah, once Kerry said he had posts that were disappeared I see that may
be the case.

Wonder what software & OS MS uses for its NG servers? ;-)

I'm pretty sure it was censorship. The thread is titled 'Long standing "Save
As" bug'. David Candy made a mildly offensive post but in my opinion not bad
enough to censor. Everything in the thread after that was deleted. My posts
were directly to Microsoft's servers and they were deleted within minutes so
they won't have propagated to any other servers.

Deleted or saved somewhere and then deleted?

The entire thread is intact on Google Groups, I can't imagine MSFT censoring
a thread when it will still exist on Google and all the other places that
archive usenet posts????

They remove posts quite often. Ask Kurt. Don't know why because as you say
they are archived on Google and usually propagate to other usenet servers
before they are removed. It's probably the overall decision of someone high
up in the hierarchy who has no idea how usenet works. Someone lower down who
may know is told to monitor for "offensive" posts and remove them. They do
it without letting the higher-ups know how useless it is. It's job security.

Kerry

Maybe some deserve it more then others Kurt.

Norton isn't about to believe me!

For an incomplete list of my censored posts. Some removed before they
propagated to other servers, like Google, some after.

You are talking about a company that helps the Chinese Gov't censor
pro-democracy speech.

Yes, I noticed this, too. Awhile back, someone posted
a topic titled "How did the surgery go?" (Think he got
confused when sending a personal email and posted
it to the NG.) Anyway, I felt silly and responded, "Fine,
thank you. It was back in 1997. I could use some chicken
soup, though." My response was deleted although the
other equally silly responses were not.

Google Groups has 27 messages in that thread, including three from
you:

I remember reading your chicken soup post, and having a quiet chuckle, so it
wasn't posted in vain.
