cd's with pics I can't open

I have four cd's I can not open. They are all the same kind RW 16x~24x. The
photos were taken with a Nikon 8800. I have accessed the picks many times
but now when I put them in the cd it just acts like it starts reading and
never stops. Any program I use to try and open them becomes unresponsive
while trying to open them. I have tried opening them on a Win XP Pro B's
Clip on a Win XP B's Clip and a Win 98 machine with InCD they all lock up
and become unresponsive. Last night I updated the firmware on the XP Pro
machine uninstalled reinstalled including all the updates. Does anyone have
an idea? Thanks.

Can InCD scan the CDs for errors? Your post certainly makes me think that
the CDs are defective. They don't last all that long.

If these disks were created on a Win9X
machine...the following info may be useful;

(321640) CD-ROM Drive May Not Be Able
to Read a UDF-Formatted Disc in Windows XP

Free...Adaptec UDF Reader Driver 5.1.1.213

Next...try cleaning the CDs with warm
water and mild soap. Dry with a soft
cloth wiping from center to edge not
in circles.

Next...try copying the CDs...maybe
you can open the copies...

If that fails...try the following:

For recovery of corrupted files from a
CD/DVD...maybe the following software
will be useful:

ISO Buster

John,
They were created with Win XP Pro. And I had no trouble opening them now all
of a sudden I can not get any of the ones made with the CoolPix 8800 open
which happen to be the same kind of cd's. Other ones that are on different
cd's and made with an Olympus work fine. It is so strange.

If it's intermittent, your drive is probably
on the verge of failure.

Well....Ok...you are the one that said "all of a sudden"...

Anyway...it must be a problem with the disks themselves.
Did you try cleaning them? Did you try copying them?

to make a copy now. It says there is 576.63 MB on the disk.
