cdrw

cdrw shows up in device manager of w2k. But I can do no
backups. the cd does not show up in the storage file of
the bios. It obly shows th floppy and hard drive. How do
I get the system to recognize the sony cdrw crx175e2.

More detail about your hardware config would help. Meanwhile check all
the cable connections on that drive, and make sure the driver for it is
the latest W2k-specific driver; drivers for other systems won't work.
Also, make sure the CDRW software you need is installed properly. And
make sure whatever backup package you're using is capable of backing up
to CDRW.
Don't resort to high explosives, at least not right away.
