"CDROM full" error message

I'm using Windows XP Home SP2, and I get the error message "This CD does not
have enough space for your files" when I try to write some files to the CD.
This is a problem that suddenly developed; used to work fine. The problem
occurs with new CDROMs; properties shows the full 702M free. I have 30G free
on C:\ for the buffer. I've tried a few other CDROMs, as well as swapping in
a CDROM drive known to work. I've also run a virus scanner, SpyBot and
AdAware.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Are you sure you are using a CDROM drive to write with? You write with a CD
R/W drive and to "open" CD-Rs or CD-RWs.
