CDROM Autorun

Unable to get autorun to work properly on a Windows XP
computer.

Windows 2000 Domain. Logged in as Administrator. No
default or group policies applied to the domain. Autorun
is enabled in registry. Also tried installing powertools
for XP and different autorun CDs. If I put an autorun CD
in the drive it does not autorun and the icon in my
computer does not change. There is no autoplay in the
menu list from right clicking on the cd. If I reboot the
computer with the CD in the drive and go back into my
computer the icon has changed and the autorun appears in
the list after right clicking on the CD. If I remove the
CD and put it back in the icon is gone and autorun does
not run. If I try autorun on another computer it does the
same thing. No autorun. Any ideas? Domain related?

Thx

Microsoft have recently come up with an autorun checking utility - it is
rather on trial still, but may help. You can get a copy at
Http://www.bigblackglasses.com/staff/downloads/autofix.exe

To quote the author (from the Microsoft Windows Shell team):

The utility is a simple executable that checks the settings on the
machine and offers to repair the problem(s) it finds. It also outputs
a log of the checks, what it found, the repair steps attempted and the
repair results in the user's MyDocs. The wizard does not replace or
modify any binaries on the system. It just modifies settings (mostly
bringing them back to factory settings). It will not modify settings
unless the user requests it by pressing one of the many "Repair"
buttons.
