Is it possible to set up a CD-RW to behave exactly as a
hard drive. I am running Windows XP Pro on a Sony PCG-
GRS515P laptop.(Approx 12 Months Old).

Yes, you can.

You have to install a Packet Writing Software like Nero
INCD or Roxio EasyCD Drag&Drop and you have to format a
CD.
If you use a MountRanier compatible driver you can use a
native support.
