Burning a bootable CD

I have been following procedures to make an XP SP2 prepatched bootable
cd. I arrived at step 12 and have found that I apparently do not have
the proper drives or software to burn the CD. I have 3 cd rw drives in
2 machines. One is Lite-On CD RW that came with a HP Pavilion
Computer, one is an external Sony DVD/CD burner (Sony said that it
will not create a bootable cd) and one is a LG CD RW with Easy CD
Creator 4.0 which is no longer supported by even email and which came
with my 3 year old custom built XP Pro computer. Will I need to buy
other software for any of these or is there another way?

Hi,

I'm not sure which procedure you are referring to when you say you arrived
at step 12 to create a slipstreamed CD with SP2. The procedure I used is at
the link below. The following software needed was the original XP CD, SP2
CD, ISO Buster and Nero Burning ROM 6. ISO Buster and Nero Burning ROM 6 can
be downloaded at no cost to you.

You might wish to take a look at this free program:

I don't know what steps you are using to create the SP2 embedded CD. However
you might what to use this simple app "AutoStreamer"
http://www.autopatcher.com/autostreamer.html then use this freeware CD
burning app to finish off the project http://www.cdburnerxp.se/

It may be possible to make Easy CD 4 work if you do the following:

Uninstall any installation of it you have

Get the update to version 4.05 from www.roxio.com - if still around

Get a registry patch file, cdgone.reg, from
www.aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip, extract it, r-click on it and merge
it into the registry and reboot to clear out orphan references

Install the version of Easy CD you have *only* - do not install Direct
CD or Take Two
When it exits, before rebooting, run the 4.05 update and then reboot.

This may well work; if not you have to get a later version Easy CD, or a
Nero version 6
