cd-rw won't read cd's

I can not get my cd-rw drive to work with windows xp. It
appears to be trying to read the cd, but then it says
that there is not a cd in the drive. I have heard that
it is a compatability issue with windows xp, but i can
not find any drivers that will repair it.

If these CDs were created using packet writing, in other words, you dragged
and dropped the files to disk or saved directly to disk as you would a
floppy, this is not supported by XP. While some XP setups will read such
disks, most won't and require the installation of third party software such
as the packet writing component of Easy CD Creature, Easy Media Creator,
both from Roxio, www.roxio.com or Nero, www.nero.com.
