CD-RW not recognized - please help!

Hi everyone!

I installed an older CDRW (Mastshita/Panasonic, 8x4x16x), but I cannot write
CDs with XP or any other app. Secondly, in my computers it says CD Drive not
CD-RW Drive. Thirdly, nomrally, when you double click on a cd drive without
a CD in it, it says please insert disc blah blah blah, but when i double
click on this drive, it opens, with a window that says 0 objects in the
status bar.

What can be the problem?
