CD/RW & DVD ROM/RW drives

Hi all,
I have both a Memorex 24x cd-rw drive & a Pioneer 11D dvd/rw drive,
I find both units very stable indeed, infact the older Memorex drive
is the best cd burner that I have ever owned.
What I have found(with both these drives & previous ones) is that when
a cd is inserted to either drive, the Cd/Rw drive is much quicker at
reading the cd that the Cd/Dvd/Rw drive.
There is not a problem at all, but was wondering if this is always the
case that a dvd/cd rw combo dive will always be a touch slower than a
cd/rw drive.

Regards

Rich

Ever since DVD+/-RW drives came out they have been known to be slightly
slower than dedicated CD burners, so your finding does not surprise me.

The newest DVD-RW drives have been fixing this problem very quickly,
however.
