In Windows Explorer right click your CD-RW drive. Choose the Properties
menu item. Make sure your drive is enabled to record. Check the other
information there to make sure your drive is recognized properly.
You can try this: in the device manager, delete the drive
and scan for hardware to redetect it. If it works, you
will probably have to repeat every time you reboot. I saw
it happening with two DVD-ROMs we had in our home
computers - when I replaced mine with a DVD/RW drive it
stopped that nonsense.
