CD-RW discs (with pictures) which are invisible to the CD writer

After writing 500Mb of pictures to a CD-RW disc (Memorex professional, 700 Mb) it was found to be impossible to read on two computers with different drives. The drive fails to see the disc for either reading/writing.
What has my done when writing the disc?.
Is it possible to recover the pictures?.

I assume you copied the photos using XP. Now, the other computers, are they
under XP?
If the other computers are not under XP, you can add three files to your CD
to make it compatible back to 95.
You can get this from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp
Download CD Slide show generator file in one of your folder. Then double
click on it to install it. Once installed, use XP again and copy one more
photo file to your CD. When copying the file, the wizard will ask you if you
want to add this feature. You just answer yes and this CD should play on any
computer with 95 up.

CD-RW disks are usually written in UDF format. Most computers do not have
the driver to read this file type unless they already have a CD-RW drive.
If the other computers do not have CD-RW drives, you need to find a way to
install software to view UDF format disks.
