cd-rw & dvd do not appear in my computer

In my computer only floppy and hard disk appear, but no cd-rw or dvd
therefore i cannot access either

This happens if burning software, like Roxio, has been removed, or one
of its files lost. This leaves orphaned entries in registry. To tidy
up, get a registry patch file, cdgone.reg, from
www.aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip, extract it, r-click on it and merge
it into the registry and reboot

You will then need to reinstall any burning software that you *do* use.
