Out of nowhere, I get a message saying that my CD-ROM and
CD Burner have been incorrectly unplugged. After this, I
am no longer able to use either untill after I reboot.
This clears this problem right up, untill it happens again.

Has this happened to anyone else? Can anyone tell me whats
going on?

thanks

Anyone? Should I just switch OSs or what?

Before you do that, what does device manager say about your CD drives when you
get this problem? If it says they're missing, or that there's a problem with
the devices, I'd check the physical connections to them. Actually, I'd do
that anyway.... Disconnect the cables and reconnect them securely. If both
devices are on the same IDE channel as master & slave and the problem persists
after you've checked the cables, you may have a failing motherboard. Dry
soldered joints can cause intermittent faults of this type and are the devil
to pin down. They're generally unrepairable too.

Good luck.
