CD-Rom

I'll keep it simple! New PC with a cd-rom and a cd-rw.
The cd-rom has trouble playing audio cd's, and when I try
copying audio cd's it will only burn at 12x (data cd's at
16x)

Cd rom is apparently 54x and cd-rw is 52x...

I have tried turning off digital error correcting thingy
so that it reads cd's via analogue... ideas people?

Cheers

The discs you are using are probably not rated at 52x.

The burner will only burn at the rated speed of the disc being burned. 52X
discs are few and far between.

A number of other factors come into play also;

fragmentation of files being copied;
spindle speed of the HDD files are copied from
use of burn-proof or buffer under-run protection
Number of other apps and services running in background

These things are important, and you must understand that just because your
burner says it is a 52X burner, does not mean that it will burn at 52x.
Data burned at that speed would likely be unreadable except in the drive
that made it, anyway. Critical data being burned should never be burned
faster than 24x. Truly critical data should be burned at 4x. This ensures
data integrity on the CD.
