CD-Rom Fails to read after updates HELP!!!!!!!!!

After installing windows update, Both my CD-Rom, and CD-
RW FAil to read any disk put in. Device Manager says that
they are both fine. Tried unistalling drivers, did not
work. Tried to uninstall the CD-rom, and CD-RW, did not
work. Tried uninstalling all of the updates. That is the
big problem, msgina.dll failed to load. Found the fix for
that, just can not do it CD-rom's still don't work. Can
anyone help me please!!!!!!

Have you considered the possibility of a system restore?

I had a similar problem insofar as my 2 CD drives were not displayed in' My
Computer' anymore; no idea why as it had nothing to do with updates. The
Device Manager showed as reason error 39 for both drives.

I finally found Microsoft Knowlegde Base Article 314060 which immediately
solved my problem (although the relevant registry entry displayed
'UpperFilters' only)
