cd rom doesnt seem to work

when i try to run a program that requires a cd rom, the program seems to
start and i can hear the cd rom running, but then it stops and the program
doesnt start. all programs that do not require me to insert a disk works
just fine.
 
It might be your cdrom drive is starting to go flaky. See if you can
gently use some canned air to clean inside the tray.
