My CD Rom is completely gone from my computer hard
drive. It will physically accept a disk but does nothing
and the device manager show that there is no CD Rom at
all installed on the computer. I have rebooted many
times but nothing seems to bring it back. Any help would
be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dave

Go into bios & see if it is there. Usually, you press the
delete key while booting to get into bios. If it isn't,
then open up the case & try unplugging , then reseating
the ide cable to that cdrom & see if the system will
recognize. If that doesn't work, then it may be dead. The
only way to tell is to take it out of your comp, & put it
into another.

Thanks Ron, I'll give it a try. Appreciate your advice. Dave
