cd-rom, cd-rw

i have both a cd-rom and a cd-rw install in my bay. I'm
running XP professional. For some strange reason, my cd-
rom or cd-rw, or sometimes even both drive uninstall
itself when i shutdown my computer for the night. Even
though the ide cable, and power supplies cables are
properly plug in. I can reinstall it by opening the case
and replugging the cables, but that's kinda annoying doing
that every time it happens. Does anyone have a better
solution(s)? Please let me know.

just use device manager to remove the devices and they will
be rediscovered/installed.
