CD-ROM and CD-RW on one system

igor

I have a CD-ROM and CD-RW on one machine running Win 2000.
CD-ROM is being recognized but does not read. Windows
complain about 'No CD-ROM in the drive'. I heard that two
CD-ROMs on one IDE cable can create troubles. But my CD-
ROM is being recognized both while booting, the system
finds it, and by all the applications including CD-burning
programs.
Can that be some system trouble or something is wrong with
the drive?

Thanks.

Can you "boot" from the CD drive? It's posible the laser assembly is
dirty or dead and the unit can no longer read CD's
