CD-R Drawer opens/closes continually

Over the last few weeks the CD Drawer has developed a mind of its own. During normal use of the computer it freeze's the screen and displays autoplay. I understand this may be a conflict due to a damaged unit although the CD Rom unit has been replaced and it continues to open and close. Various anti virus software has not revealed any problems and now I'm at a loss to know how to solve the problem. Any ideas? Contact mail addy below

Thanks

Hi,

Please perform virus scan in your system.

As well as, check the physical cable connection to your CD drive.

Thanks,

Many thanks babuji, however have scanned the system which has not revealed any problems. When you say physical connections do you mean the connections inside the unit itself? the unit was replaced and is two days old so I cant see there being a problem.

Thanks again...

The reason babuji suggested you scan your system is that tricks with the
cd-rom drive were often caused by infection by a trojan. In your case,
this is not the cause. Yes, open the computer and look at the cabling
and the jumpers to be sure everything is as it should be. If you did
not do the replacing yourself, then take your machine back immediately
to the people who did the work and have them fix it.

jumpers and cabling would not be that fault , I would say CDROM is broken
.....there is a small switch which tells the drive it is closed , if this is
not working it will cause the problem you have.

replace drive
