CD-R problem!!!

Over the last few weeks the CD-Rom drawer has developed a mind of its own. During normal use of the computer it freeze's the screen and displays autoplay (to my annoyance). I understand this may be a conflict due to a damaged unit although I had the CD Rom unit replaced and re-installed, it still continues to open and close and displays autoplay when there is nothing inside the unit. Various anti-virus software has not revealed any problems and now I'm at a loss to know how to solve the problem. Any ideas?

Please!!! someone must know what it could be tried most things! Grrrrrrrr. I'm no expert though.
