CD-R causes crash (lockup) WinXPproSP1a

Whenever I insert a blank cd-r/rw .. etc into either my
CD-RW or DVD+-RW drive, I get a CD icon next to the mouse
pointer for a second or two, then the system STOPS
responding compleatly.

ANY HELP!? This is a FRESH clean install.

i got that after i burned a cd and it failed. it was that particular cd
that caused the system to lockup

I have Tried a few different media??...
CD-R, CD-RW, and blank DVD's..

Any other solns?
