CD Problems

I updated to XP SP2, upgraded to Media Player 10, and
have downloaded the new 5.5 version of WinAmp. Both of
my CD drives are no longer recognized and I have tried
uninstalling and reinstalling them using the device
manager. The message I receive is...Windows cannot start
this hardware device because its configuration
information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged.
(Code 19)
Can anyone offer a suggestion?

I have the same problem. If there is a disk in the drive
when I boot up then the disk is recognised. Otherwise
nothing. I no longer get the extremely helpful message
incorrect function which I did when the problem first
started but I do not know why this has disappeared.
