Google for "retrieve windows cd key" there are several FREE files that will
retrieve it...that is their only function.

I do not have a current installation. Just a blank HD.

Cry a lot, and then spring for a new copy with a valid key. Now, if you
appear in the registered user/owner list, you might get MS to provide you
with a new key. You may have to answer several questions to prove that you
are you. It's been a long time since I needed to to this, so it's possible
that MS discontinued the service. More recently, I've used the MSDN
Subscription service and keys, which involve a totally different process to
obtain a key.

Just type serial key or serial keys in Google search box and you will be
surprised what you get!! These sites should be legal otherwise M$ would
have gone with a ton of $s to close them down!!!
