CD error

I am baffled why Windows 2000 stops my son (Power User)
from accessing a game in the CD drive by saying it isn't
there but it lets him run it when he logs on as
Administrator. Is it something to do with
security and can someone help please as I'd rather he
didn't remain able to change everything (by accident of
course!)

The game manufacturer will probably have the answer. Check their website.

Just wanted to say thank you for suggesting on the MS
community newsgroup that I went onto the manufacturer's
website to understand why the CD drive wasn't
recognised. Absolutely right. There was a patch and it
worked. I suppose I thought it was a Windows problem
because it had happened on more than one game. Anyway,
I'm most grateful - thanks.

You're welcome. It's all too common lately what with the increase in
"copy protection schemes" and the "security" provided in the NT based
operating systems.
