CD/DVD ROM I/O error

All of a sudden my CD/DVD RW doesn't work! If I try to play a cd it gives me
an I/O device error disk unaccessible. If I try to burn a disc it repeatedly
asks to insert a blank disc. I tried reinstalling drivers, but of course it
didn't work because it is not communicating with my device. I also have
another CD/RW ROM on the computer that plays, but the default to write is on
my other drive. What do I need to do to get my CD/DVD work?

Sounds like a hardware issue. Replace that drive.
