cd/dvd drive will not do anything

hello, i have a cd/dvd rw combo drive, in the control panel everything looks
fine and it says this device is working properly, but its not. if i click
eject in windows media player the drawer comes out but when i put any cd or
dvd back in nothing happens. sometimes i see a little disc flash at my
pointer right after i put a disc in but it doesnt read it. in windows media
player it says 'disc drive in use' the last thing i can remember doing was
burning a cd, then my computer froze and that happend in windows media
player, is there anything i can do , its really frustrating cause i cant
install my web cam or listen to cds cause the disk drive wont work.thankyou

You don't say if your system is still under any warranty from the seller or
the manufacturer. But it is possible that the fault lies in the hardware. I
had this happen on a Sony laptop, and Sony had to replace the disk holder.
