CD Drive won't read disks

The DVD-RW Drive on my Dell Laptop has stopped reading discs. When I put in
a CD or DVD, nothing happens and nothing shows up in the D: drive.
This problem started yesterday. Up until then, the drive has worked fine.

How can this problem be fixed?
