Just been given 2nd PC running XP( this was possibly upgrade from ME done
without clean install). There are 2 disc drives 1 CD record/ rw and one DVD.
As case not big enough for both one is loose on case. I want to remove DVD
but CD wont work on its own. I have checked jumper is set to master with no
effect.CD will only work as slave to DVD. Also CD will not write to disc-says
disc is not there or full

What other drives are there?

If one HD, try setting the CD as slave to the HD. If two HDs, set the
other as secondary master.

As usual, verify all jumper settings on the drives.
