CD drive index not being read

Hi all,

My new computer will only successfully read CDROMs about 2 times between
reboots. Any more, and it refuses to update the directory info, thinking
that the last successfully read disc is still in the drive. Of course, any
attempts the use the data off the disc then fail, because it reads the bytes
off the new disc but is still using the index off the previous disc.
