CD, CDRW, and USB drives not recognized.

Hello,

Suddenly I noticed that my CD, CDRW, and USB drives are not being
recognized. They show up in 'My Computer' but when I put a CD in a drive, I
cannot open the CD. If I plug my thumb drive into the USB port, I cannot
read that drive either.

Everything was working yesterday. I have tried System Restore to no
avail. I am using Windows XP, SP 2.

Please help if you can.

Best regards and thanks.

I must admit, this was my error. Due to a HD crash, I have been slowly
reinstalling all my software.

After this drive problem was discovered, I started uninstalling programs
that I had installed in the past few days. One of them was InCD, an AHEAD
Software product. I found that after unstalling InCD everything started
working just fine. When I installed InCD in the first place, I didn't allow
it to register in my startup programs. DUH! It won't work unless it is a
running process. I have used InCD in the past and it is an okay program,
however I never used it much so I am not sure if I will reinstall it now.

Thanks,

Barney
