cd burn & format ability lost

How do I regain the ability to burn and format cd's. I uninstalled Nero
because it created too many conflicts, and I can playback with vlc, but
don't know how to regain the above lost functions.

Try uninstalling in device mgr,shutdown pc,connect cdrw to another IDE
connection.
