CD and CD RW drive won't read

I keep inserting discs into both drives and no matter what i do they won't
read them. I click on the drives manually and they just say to insert disc.
I tried unistalling both drives and reinstalling, I rebooted a couple times,
and I system restored it but nothing seems to work.
 
Try uninstalling them in device mgr,but once thru,close out,shutdown pc.
Power off,move the cdrw & rom to other IDE link,set jumpers correctly,restart
pc,xp will reinstall.
 
Once my pc restarts the first time they both auto install. How do I move
them to another IDE link?

Hi Geoff,
Did these CDs been written many times?.
Your CD may be bad, try to run the CDs on another Computer and see if the
Cds gone bad or you need a new CD/DVD ROM on Xmas list LOL.

I tried every game/cd i have and none work. When i tried burning a cd it says
their no disc in the other drive either. I went through Itunes and it burned
so they both work but the cds won't load on their own or through "my computer"
