CCleaner and the Registry

No, it doesn't.

Sadly, that is no longer true.

I'd never thought of Live OneCare, or any other web-based subscription
service as a good idea. But now that Microsoft has decided to milk
people's superstitious "desire" for a registry cleaner, it's an even
worse deal. Instead of being something that one simply doesn't
recommend, Live OneCare is now something whose use competent and
conscientious technicians will have to actively recommend against.

oh, pleazzze

time to give it a rest.

-----------------------------

the sad truth of the matter
is that for many years all you people
thought of yourselves to be smarter than
Microsoft software engineers and
believed that by sticking together and
pouncing upon a poor windows user
experiencing an issue with their registry,
you mvp's would achieve conquest and
manipulation and control over the
newsgroups.

fortunately, the one care team listened
to my concerns and ascertained an
understanding of what was going on/at
these newsgroups.

further, so did the mvp organization
by the response I received from them.

perhaps, it would be pointless for any
ms mvp to continue to post contradictory
information about Microsoft's and or their
free registry scanner/cleaner and the benefits
of maintaining the registry database,

since Microsoft has the first and last word
on their products.

such contradictory opinions would have
to withstand the facts that Microsoft has
legally and officially provided on the matter.

Why on earth rant and rave about registry cleaners that aren't needed and,
to an average computer user, can cause more damage than good? If you don't
use one you eliminate the possibility of rendering your computer useless.
If you do use one what do you benefit-----nothing. Doesn't that make ANY
sense to you?

So, they are selling something they don't recommend?

Yes, marketing wanted to sell, the technicians warned against it.
Management (not being technicians) supported marketing.

The mantra of every good MVP: "read aumha ... ". It is an interesting
read, and worth a few giggles, but ... has no substance nor anything
worthy. No one would ever hear of aumha if MVPs didn't try to hard to get
an obscure name out in front of people. If there were any truth to any of
their ridiculous claims, many more places than this newsgroup and the
obscure aumha would be talking about it. But they aren't. The mantra
falls on deaf ears other than the puppets & a few followers who can't
think for themselves.

I see that you are still striking down people for telling of their bad
experiences with registry cleaners while tactfully managing not to produce
ANY proof to the contrary other than a sales pitch written by an interested
party..

Doesn't that make ANY sense to you?

Because registry cleaners are useful to the "average computer user", do
not cause more damage than good (in fact, have never caused damage of
all the machines I have used it on and will not do so).

Whatever is going to cause computer problems will not be eliminated
by not useing a registry cleaner - that's a silly statement. The very
worst that happens when a reputable registry cleaner is used is Nothing
noticeable, usually because the work it did had nothing to do with the
cause of the problems being chased.

Since everything you said is untrue, has nothing to back it up and never
has,, and is otherwise just misinformation, it makes all kinds of sense
to me to point that out to the masses who might be gullible enough to
believe you. Most thinking people know better anyway.

Also, I have not ranted and raved; only you have done that as is obvious
above. I simply state true facts based on many years experience and
research, particularly with XP; too bad you can't say the same thing.
There is nothing to back up or support your contentions while there is a
plethora of information from a multitude of sources saying you are
wrong.

Very simply, Microsoft bought the company that developed One Care.
Obviously. Too bad it's too buggy to continue with. Another MS clunk;
they couldn't beat it so they bought it, and trashed it even further.
It's not a good registry cleaner, unfortunately.
