I back up my system with Quicken, but recently I have
received a message indicating that two files are not
being backed up because they are in use. This is a new
message, perhaps associated with the new SP2 software I
recently loaded. The two files not being backed up are
WINDOWS\System32\CatRoot2\edb.log and WINDOWS\System32
\CatRoot2\tmp.edb Should I be concerned about these
files being on the system and not being backed up? Are
they Microsoft files or do they represent an
inappropriate incursion?

Quicken is not backup software. Quicken is a finance, to
keep track of your finances and can only back up Quicken
files. You can't back up other Windows files with
quicken. You would need a CD-RW drive and CD-R/RW disks
or DVD+-/R/RW drive and disks or a CD-RW/DVD combo drive
or get an external hard drive or usb flash drive to back
up Windows files.

Hi

They are Microsoft files, but it is not vital that you are
not able to back them up.
