Category view is gone

I do not have the choice to change from classic to category view in my
Windows XP Home SP2, I have only the classic view and nothing in the left
even Windows Update or Help and Support, what can I do?

In Control Panel, double click Folder Options. On the General
page, make sure that "Show common tasks in folders" is
selected. Click OK.
