Categorization of Shared Mailbox Messages in Outlook 2007

We have a mailbox for Support that is shared with several users. I would
like to categorize messages in this mailbox with color coded categories so we
all will know the status of the messages.

However, whenever I try to apply a category to a message in this folder,
either by right click and select or using quick-click I get the message
"Could not open item. Try again."

If I open the message in its own window then I can cetegorize the item, but
this is not very efficient - we have a lot of messages to categorize.
Furthermore, I can categorize messages in my own personnel mailbox without
opening them.

Any suggestions as to why I cannot do this. Are there alternate mechanisms
for flagging messages - it seems the flags are fixed colors now.

Thanks,

I'm having the exact same problem. Hoping someone has a solution. My
shared exchange host tells me they don't have the same problem on
their internal accounts.
