Categories?

OK, why is it that I can assign a category to an email, but as soon as I
reply to said email,the cagtegory disapears? I need to copy myslef on a few
emails that I send and I use the cateogires to organize and file them, worked
great in 2003, but it 2007 when I get that email the category I set is gone?

Ex: I am replying to an email that I need to follow up on next Monday, so I
wil cc myself on it, select the category I created "Monday" and reply. The
email comes into my inbox... no category? It strips it as soon as you send
it?

To my knowledge (although I am no expert), the categories applied to emails
are not contained in the messages that are transfered from one email to
another. You can't gaurantee that outlook is installed on the recipients
computer and since category is an outlook-specific item it doesn't include it
in the message headers. for that matter, the category you specified "Monday"
may not even exist on the recipient's outlook install. All-in-all, category,
I'm fairly sure, is not transmitted in emails.

In principle, categories are sent with the email. It's just that by default
OL07 has a new rule in place to delete categories from incoming messages
(which can be turned off), and for sending them you need to add a key to the
registry.

Outlook 2007 has a default rule that removes categories. Did you disable that
rule?

OK, the issue is I only have this:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\12.0\

I dont have the rest of it, I am using a corporate edition/server? Does
that make a difference?

Exactly, eou need to write the rest yourself, or use the *.reg file I
offered for download.
