rules using categories

I noticed that Outlooks rule wizard can create a rule which can run if the
email senders address is in the contact address book. I wanted to then apply
the category assigned to the sender in my address book to that email, but
the wizard only seems able to assign a specific category. Am I understanding
that right? I use catgories alot, and any way to automatically assign a
category to email will save me time.
I also wanted to automatically assign a category to a reply that I do of an
email that arrived in my inbox which I had assigned a category.

It seems so. The Rules Wizard cannot query the categories assigned to a
contact and assign them to a message from that contact.

If this can be done at all, it will need to be done by code you write yourself
or possibly by a third-party tool you can purchase. I don't know of any
off-hand, however.
