Categories not listed in Device Manager

The "Monitors" and "Display Adapter" categories are not listed in Device
manager. I've tried a new video card with the exact drivers "I've installed
this same card and driver many times" and still neither category shows up. I
changed the monitor as well with no change. And I've already run an XP repair
and I'm still having the same problem. Is there a way to delete the windows
default monitor or video drivers to force XP to recheck for the devices?

Go to Start/Run, and type DEVMGMT.MSC , highlight the device, Action menu,
"Uninstall", then restart Windows, to find the device drivers again
automatically.

Well the problem is the actual categories called "Monitors" and the category
called "Display Adapter" arn't listed. I'm in the "Devices by type" view, I
can see all the other main categories like "Network adapters", "Disk Drives",
"Computer", etc.

go toi start/run and type :

msinfo32 /category Components

Problem Devices and Display areas should show you what is going on. Device
Manager may list these in 'unknown'
