I just purchased an Inland 8310 USB 2.0 Multi card reader and
downloaded the latest drivers . Following the the instuctions on the
driver set-up , it tells me taht since have XP (or ME) that no dirve
installation is necessary . However when I plug it into the USB port
or my Tobisha A45-S121 laptop it still asks me to install a a driver
...and of course it is not recognized it "my computer" . In device
manager properities to message ins "no driver installed . I am very
confused here . BTW, I bought another brand of card reader
(MediaGear 7in4) and got similar results . I need some help on how to
deal with this - Thanks

What Service Pack level do you have on your laptop? If you haven't even
applied SP1, that is probably the cause of the issue.
