Hi,
I have Dazzle 8-in-1 card reader/writer. Seems to work OK. When not in use
it continuously (no frequency pattern) disconnects and then immediately
connects. Any suggestions how to 'stabilize' it? Thanks a lot in advance.

Go to its entry in Device Manager (from the System applet in Control
Panel). Double-click the entry to get the device's Properties. There
should be a tab called "Power Management". Uncheck the box that allows
Windows to turn off the device when not in use.

Hi Malke,
Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, there's no "Power Management" or
similar tabs. I'm running XP SP2. Also, after I installed that reader I
noticed that every time I reboot my PC the icon size on desktop changes to
the default size, the icon spacing doesn't. Weird, isn't it? Any thoughts?
Thanks again,
AK

HI again,
I found the problem. It's the s/w that comes with that reader. In addition
to all the other bad things it also "kicks" out my scanner (USB). I
uninstalled it and everything went back to normal. I connected the reader and
it works. The only problem now is that it doesn't want to connect on USB 2.0.
It connects on 1.1 port though I have 5 available ports on 2.0. I'll try
their tech support tomorrow.

Thanks for taking the time to post the answer. It will help others who
have a similar problem in the future.

Good luck,

Malke

Malke,
You're right - I do need luck, especially talking to tech support at ZIO.
They told me that their software works properly only in 1024x768 screen.
Also, they told me that I need to download a driver from Dell (I have
Dimension 4550, XP SP2) that would make the PC to recognize their card reader
as USB 2.0 device. I expressed my doubts about the latter, but what can you
do. I tried to connect this reader to my wife's laptop - the same problem:
"HI-SPEED USB Device Plugged into non-HI_SPEED USB HUB". All 3 USB ports on
the laptop are 2.0. I called Fujitsu (laptop is Fujitsu S6120) and they
confirmed that. Then I went to MS support site and found KB article 312370
that describes this problem. The solution it recommends is to install SP2.
Oops - full circle: I already have SP2. I guess I need to buy quality
product, not a junk.
Just sharing my experience.
Thanks for your help,
AK
