Media Card Reader

When I put a SmartMedia card into my Dazzle card reader nothing happens.
Before it stopped working a box would open and ask me what I wanted to do
with the pictures that I was down loading and I could add the pictures to My
Pictues program easily. I noticed that also, the balloon box does not show
up which when the card reader was working would tell me if a cable was
disconnected on my computer. I can remove the USB cable for the card reader
and there is no notice that the cable is disconnected, is the missing notice
window connected to the problem of the card reader not working. When I put
the Media Card into the reader I hear a tone and a 'flash' of an 'hour glass'
next to the screen pointer. My USBs seem to be working, or the other USBs
seem to work. I have tried to put the card reader into another USB but it
still doesn't work. My printers do work. Does this ring anyones bell?

If you go into "My Computer" when the reader is plugged in, do you see
the SmartMedia card as a drive? Does it work? If so, sounds like you
turned off autorun. If not, then you should probably try removing the
device in device manager and re-installing it.

notgonna,
Did you remove the card reader by using Safely Remove Hardware?
Have you rebooted the computer?
