capture video not working

i have a canon zr65mc and i own a firewire etc. and i have everything hooked
up properly and windows video maker ready to go but when i click on capture
movie it doesnt detect my camera ive tried everything to get it to work but
it doesnt and i have everything hooked up properly what should i do? help.
