capture from video device - VCR

new to movie maker.

I have connected my vcr to the computer (red, white, yellow connectors) and
started a home video. I hit capture from vido device and I get an error
message.

a video capture was not detected. Verify that a device is turned on and
connected properly, and then try again.

Any suggestions?

Capturing analog video into Movie Maker requires a specialized capture card
to convert it from analog to digital... what are you using?

This is because you are trying to capture from an analog device (your VCR to
analog inputs) and Movie Maker doesn't like this. Your two best options are
to either use the capture program that came with your card or to capture
through a device like a Dazzle capture device which will actually be
capturing through Movie Maker in digital instead of analog. If you go out
and purchase a Dazzle unit though make sure it is firewire compatible
because some only work through USB.
