Caption numbering incorrect

A colleage was trying to modify a word document with a table of content and
figure captions already created. She experienced problems and gave me the
..doc to fix it.

When I insert Captions it looks like this:

Chapter 1
Caption 1-1
Caption 1-2
Chapter 2
Caption 1-3
Caption 1-4
Caption 1-5
Chapter 3
Caption 1-6
Chapter 4

and so on. It seems that the caption is ignoring the chapter headings, which
are correct in terms of style (Heading 1 special)

Can anyone please help e with this?

Thanks,
Pari

If "Heading 1 special" is the name of the style and it's not just an alias
for Heading 1, then it won't do. "Chapter numbering" can be provided *only*
by one of Word's built-in heading styles.

I can be reached at 413.575.2366

Thanks.

When you went to the captions feature, did you remember to go to numbering
and check the Include Chapter Number? However, in order for this to work your
chapter headings must be in heading style.

Yes, I did. And I checked the styles too..

Please, if possible, email at (e-mail address removed) and I can send you the file.

Thanks,
Pari
